Flavour enhancers in food, are they harmful?

Taste, man tastes wine
If you look at the list of ingredients in industrially produced foods, you will discover the addition of flavour enhancers in many of them, mostly sodium glutamate or monosodium glutamate.

Flavour enhancers are added because industrially manufactured products often lose a lot of flavour due to the complex processing procedures, which is to be restored with the addition of flavour enhancers.

Iron intake during pregnancy

Man lifting weights, iron makes you strong
During pregnancy, the need for iron increases by 100 per cent. If you bear this in mind, it is easy to see that an adequate supply through food is possible, but not very easy.

It is difficult to achieve sufficient coverage with iron through food on one's own, because its composition in food and the body's ability to absorb it depend on various factors and not only on the type of vegetable chosen, etc. In order to keep control of it oneself, it requires sound knowledge, which a layperson usually does not possess.

A day out and about with the baby

Mother and child travelling in a car
To spend a pleasant day out and about with your baby, you should be well prepared, especially if your plans include the use of different transport options.

An infant car seat is recommended in the first few months of your child's life, while the more practical pushchair is only recommended from the age of around 6 months. This should then be able to be folded backwards so that the baby can still be placed in a lying position when it falls asleep. If it is not yet able to sit up on its own, this is necessary anyway, as you should not sit the baby upright for long.

Weaning off the dummy

Soother for baby
Soother weaning should take place before the child starts kindergarten.

Ideally, weaning should take place before the end of the second year of life and the dummy should be replaced with a toy that the child can also suck. This helps him to forget the dummy and prevents him from using his fingers instead. The child will be satisfied if he is offered an alternative. The purpose of this is to find a form of satisfaction that is less harmful.

Taste, how does it develop?

Strawberry with chocolate
As with other questions concerning our development, people also argue about the question of how taste develops, whether it is innate or trained.

There are enough examples of people who prefer one taste throughout their lives, e.g. sweet, or salty, and just as many people can be found who will confirm that their taste has changed over the years.

Piñata for children's birthday parties

Boy at pinata on birthday
By now, some Germans have heard the word piñata and know what it means, but there are probably still many who have no idea what it means.

The piñata is a container that is filled with sweets and surprises and then hung on a rope above the children's heads, who have to try to hit it with a stick until the piñata breaks.
