What is buckwheat and how is it prepared?

BuckwheatYou might think that buckwheat is a product that is very similar to the wheat we are familiar with in our homeland. The fact that this is not the case can already be guessed from this introduction.

Buckwheat is a cereal seed that originally comes from Asia. It resembles the fruit of the beech tree, the small brown beechnuts, hence its German name. However, another name for buckwheat is heath grain. It is therefore not similar to wheat in shape, colour or plant species.

The artichoke and how to prepare it

Artichoke

The artichoke is a vegetable that is mostly only known by name, and although it is often available in supermarkets, it is not yet very common in our cuisine.

The artichoke is not actually a vegetable, but a flower. What we eat is the flowering part of a plant that can grow up to 2 metres high and belongs to the composite family, as do daisies and endives, for example.

How to protect your eyes and vision

Easy on the eyesThe eye is an organ that we put a lot of strain on, but which is sometimes even underchallenged due to one-sided use. Spatial vision, the quick adjustment of the pupil to three-dimensional objects, can atrophy or not even be developed properly if it is not practised from the beginning.

As with all muscles, the visual muscle needs to be trained in order to perform at full capacity. If this is not the case, or if it is used too one-sidedly, this leads on the one hand to less performance and even to the inability to perform certain functions successfully. On the other hand, more extensive problems can occur, such as headaches and migraines.

Real estate as a pension

Real estate Retirement provisionIt has long been no secret that pensions for the current working population need to be topped up with private measures if they want to secure a life that is more or less in line with previous standards.

Among the options for ensuring this, many people consider investing their money now in a (further) property that will provide them with an income from rental income later.

The idea is not wrong, but there are a few things to bear in mind to ensure that the calculation works.

Boy or girl?

People, and parents-to-be in particular, have always been interested in the gender of a child even before it is born.

Few people don't think about the subject at all, because at the latest when you are asked by the outside world what you prefer, you have to show your colours. Even if the answer is something like "it doesn't matter, the main thing is that it's healthy", expectant parents often find themselves thinking or daydreaming about the shape or gender of their baby.

Skin care tips

Skin care
The skin's need for care becomes clear at the latest when we start to have problems with it, namely when the natural balance of moisture and elasticity can no longer be maintained and it begins to tighten, or worse still, to itch or flake.

Most people have also developed a certain skin care ritual, which often includes the use of creams, for example after the daily shower, or the application of masks and treatments, especially on the face.

How dangerous is genetically modified food?

genetically modified food
Ever since the method of genetic manipulation, or gene modification as some would prefer, has dominated research, there has been controversy surrounding its use in the breeding of crops and food.

What at first seemed to be a complete success and was advertised as such, namely that the plants were now more robust, would be contaminated with fewer pesticides, yields could be increased and the plants themselves could be made more durable, was quickly recognised by the general public and the press as a strategy with which manufacturers wanted to save money at the expense of the health of the population.
