CDs and DVDs can become scratched after much use, making them no longer fully readable by DVD players, CD players, game consoles and computers. Light scratches can be repaired and can save the CD.

 

Not every scratched CD can be repaired, but with careful care you can try to save the disc. With the following tips you can try to bridge the scratches and make the CD readable again.

 

1. carefully blow off the dust and dust the CD or DVD with a dry, soft hair brush.

2. polish the disc in straight strokes from the inside to the outside using a soft cloth. Never wipe a CD in a circular motion.

3. apply a drop of glass cleaner to the CD and clean again with straight strokes from the inside to the outside.

4. apply a tiny drop of car wax to the polishing cloth and run it over the surface of the entire CD again with the same strokes from the inside to the outside. The wax fills small scratches and bridges the gaps.

5. remove excess wax from the CD with a dry lens cleaning cloth and allow the CD to dry completely before use.
