Children don't like going for a walk because it's too boring for them. To get them away from the screen and outside, you have to offer them fun and entertainment. Here are some ideas of what parents can play outside with their children.

If you have a garden, you should give the children a reason to spend time there. Playhouses and climbing frames are the obvious choice, but birdhouses or a separate flower bed for the children are also interesting; anything they can influence themselves.

Exploring instead of walking. You can plan excursions to interesting places such as waterfalls or simply go off the beaten track on a normal walk in the woods and search for treasures in the undergrowth. It's even more fun if a friend of the child can join in.

In mild weather, fun with water is always a success. This can be with water balloons, water pistols, buckets or plastic bottles. It doesn't necessarily have to be summer, just make sure you have the right rain gear. Rainy days are wonderful for many children when they can splash through the puddles in wellies.

Children today are interested in technical devices. So why not take your mobile phone or camera outside and take a few pictures and videos? There are plenty of things to chase after outside with the camera. Later, the child can relive the fun when they look at their pictures.

An obstacle course can be set up quickly and easily on the play street, in your own garden or on the playground. You lay out a course over tree trunks, park benches or stones and set up races.

Collect stones and sticks. There are countless ideas here. Who can find the most beautiful stone or the longest twig? Older children can use small stones to write their name on the ground. The children can also collect other objects such as interesting-looking leaves, acorns, chestnuts or snail shells and compete with each other to see who can find the most and most beautiful things.
