Children have little patience, even when it comes to flowers. When children want to plant their first flower bed themselves, they want to see results as quickly as possible and not wait weeks for the sprouts to emerge.

The following flowers are therefore particularly suitable for planting in a child's garden as they sprout quickly and look pretty.

 

 

Children love to play in the dirt. By giving them the opportunity to plant their own flower bed, their natural inclination to the earth is satisfied, but in a meaningful way. For children, it is important to grow low-maintenance, fast-growing flowers that have special characteristics to hold the child's interest.

Nasturtium. Nasturtiums normally sprout within 3 days. The special thing about nasturtiums is that the leaves are edible. They contain vitamin C and are ideal for a colourful salad. Of course, no pesticides should be used.

Jewellery basket (cosmos bipinnatus). Jewellery baskets grow quickly and are easy to grow. The chocolate-coloured variety of this flower is interesting and also smells of sweet, dark chocolate.

Marigold. A children's garden would be incomplete without some marigolds, which are very easy to grow. Marigolds last until frost and protect the other flowers from pests.

Zinnia. Zinnias sprout within 3 days and grow up to one metre high. They come in many colours. Zinnias make good cut flowers, so the children can cut them regularly and place them in a vase in the house. This rewards their diligence for all to see.

Sunflower. A single sunflower in a flower bed is enough to make it look exotic and interesting. Sunflowers grow quickly and are great fun for children. At the end of the season, the sunflower seeds can be removed and fed to the birds in winter, which is another fun aspect for the children.
