It's great to share your life with your friends and acquaintances and to be a part of theirs. But don't make the typical Facebook mistakes that annoy your friends. More importantly, be a good Facebooker yourself so that your friends like your posts.
The most important Facebook rules
1. share and don't post too much
You don't need to document every step of your life, leave the trivial things out of Facebook, because nobody reads that anyway. Limit your posts to highlights.
2. do not tag your friends in photos without being asked
Some may find the photos embarrassing and not want everyone to see them.
3. think about your future
If you're applying for your next job or even just looking for a flat, you can be sure that your future boss or landlord will visit your Facebook profile first. Your Facebook page says a lot about you, often more than your application letter.
4. don't be too provocative
The topics of sex, politics or religion are sensitive and you can step on some people's toes. If you want to post about it, do so unprovocatively.
5. don't be a show-off
Of course you should share your happiness, but be a little tactful. Nobody likes a constant show-off.
6. no posts with a blatant need for attention
Some post a deliberately mysterious status update to provoke questions from friends. This makes them feel important and noticed. However, it comes across as embarrassing.
7. no status update if you are not sober
When drunk or intoxicated, some people post embarrassing things that they can later delete, but many have already seen them.
8. do not befriend strangers
Not only does it come across as sleazy to others, but it can also be an egg in your own nest, because if you don't know the person, you don't know who is reading your posts.
9 Silence is golden
If you have nothing to say, it's better not to post anything at all. Otherwise you'll quickly be dismissed as a waffler.
10. be nice to others
Remember: others are like you, they like it when their friends like and comment on their posts. So don't forget to give your friends some attention from time to time.
