A high ceiling is usually a good thing, but small rooms can look cold and uninviting if the ceiling is excessively high. High ceilings can be made visually lower by using the right wall colours.

The trick is to have a colour contrast between the ceiling paint and the wall paint and start with the ceiling paint on the wall where the ceiling should ideally be. From the ceiling, depending on the height, you have to go down the wall up to 30 centimetres and mark the edge with a pencil. You have to make sure that the border line joins up all around the room.
The outlined border is glued on with masking tape to get a clean border between the colours.

A good visual effect is achieved with a light wall colour and a darker ceiling colour. For example, the walls can be white and the ceiling ochre yellow.

As an additional visual border between the two colours, you can place a patterned edging strip along the line. Coordinate the colour of the border.
