If you accidentally iron on an iron-on picture incorrectly, you don't need to fret, because the small mistake can be corrected relatively easily. There are various methods for removing iron-on film. Depending on the size of the image or the letters, it may take several attempts until the foil is completely removed.

 

Before you start removing, make sure you have everything you need ready. Once the iron-on film has been successfully removed, the garment can be decorated again with a new iron-on image.

 

Method 1: Soak cotton wool in rubbing alcohol and apply to the back of the picture on the inside of the garment. the alcohol dissolves the adhesive on the film, making it easier to lift off the fabric. If some adhesive remains on the iron-on picture or the fabric, simply repeat the process until it works.

 

Method 2: Set an iron to the highest setting and wet the garment. Place a piece of parchment paper on the iron-on image and move the iron back and forth a few times. The iron-on picture will peel off the fabric very gradually. If it does not peel off easily, continue to heat the paper until it comes off.

 

Method 3: If the first two methods do not work, you can try pressing the hot iron directly onto the iron-on picture. After a while the foil will curl up and come off, but be careful not to damage the iron. The hot iron should not stay on the iron-on film for more than 30 seconds.

 

To remove small residues from the fabric, you can use a clothes brush or a strip of tape. Before attempting to iron on a new image, the garment should be washed.

If the adhesive film does not come off easily, do not pull too hard so as not to tear a hole in the fabric.
