Safe use of the mobile phone

Man with mobile phone

Many people are still unsure about the safety of mobile phones. Some suspect a connection between the electromagnetic radiation emitted by mobile phones and increased health risks. To ensure that all potential health risks are eliminated, there are just a few points to bear in mind so that you can make mobile phone calls without worry.

Safety precautions for the use of mobile phones

Except in an emergency, children under the age of 12 should never use mobile phones. A child's skull is thinner than that of an adult and is therefore more susceptible to radiation.

Teenagers should preferably use a headset when making phone calls and concentrate on texting.

As a precaution, pregnant women should only use mobile phones to a limited extent so as not to put the developing baby at risk.

If possible, carry your mobile phone in a handbag rather than on your body. If you carry it on your body, you should insert it with the back away from your body so that the radiation is directed outwards.

Use a headset as often as possible so that the mobile phone is further away from your head.

Do not place the mobile phone next to the bed or under the pillow while sleeping.

Do not talk on the phone for more than about 15 minutes at a time.

If reception is weak, do not use the mobile phone if possible, as the mobile phone searches for a stronger signal and the amount of electromagnetic radiation increases.

If you are unsure but still want to have a mobile phone, you should choose a model with the lowest Specific Absorption Rate (SAR).

Do not simply throw an old mobile phone in the bin, but dispose of it properly.
