Environmental awareness is an important topic. By adopting certain habits in the household, you can save energy and costs.
1. showering uses less water than bathing. You can easily test this yourself: put in the bathtub plug and measure how full the tub is after a normal shower. If you don't take a 45-minute shower, it will be far less than a full bath. This way you can save water and energy.
A dripping tap can waste up to 100 litres of water a month. If you have a dripping tap, get it fixed quickly.
Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth. About six litres of water are lost per minute.
4. energy-saving lamps consume up to 80% less electricity.
Switch off the TV completely when you are no longer watching TV. A TV on standby consumes unnecessary power.
6. don't turn on a light when it's bright enough. Daylight costs nothing, so take advantage of it!
7. your household appliances such as washing machine, dishwasher, etc. should be at least class A. AAA consumes the least energy.
Do not leave the refrigerator open longer than necessary. The more cold escapes, the more the refrigerator has to work to maintain the temperature.
9. a refrigerator does not necessarily have to be set at the coldest temperature. Colder than 8 degrees is not necessary and consumes too much electricity.
Recycle your waste. Plastic, aluminium, paper and glass can become valuable raw materials if collected in the right bin.
11. used rechargeable batteries instead of alkaline batteries.
When you leave a room, turn off the light.
A computer screen consumes a lot of electricity. Turn it off when you are not using the computer.
14. do not leave chargers plugged in after charging mobile devices. They consume electricity even when no device is connected to them.
A toilet is not a rubbish bin. Don't put anything in it that doesn't belong there.
Keep your household appliances clean and they won't break so quickly.
When washing dishes by hand, do not do it under a running tap, but leave the sink full of water.
