If you feel tired but don't have the opportunity to rest at the moment, you can manipulate your body to feel awake and refreshed again, at least for a while.
A busy day often leaves you feeling tired and exhausted. Work, school, leisure activities, housework or family commitments make people mentally more tired than usual. If you can't change your daily schedule, you can at least trick your body into thinking you're not tired.
The tiredness is exacerbated by thinking about how tired you are and how nice it would be to be able to rest right now. As soon as the thought of tiredness creeps in, it must be suppressed. The brain should be distracted by other mental activities.
If you catch yourself yawning, you should get up and move around and stretch. A short walk in the fresh air would be good. Maybe you can now also do the shopping that is due anyway.
Drink plenty of water during the day, as the body needs enough fluids to function properly. One and a half to two litres of fluid per day are recommended to keep the body feeling refreshed. A glass of ice-cold water helps to combat acute tiredness and has a stimulating and refreshing effect on the circulation.
Lunch should not be too substantial if you still have a lot to do in the afternoon. A big, heavy lunch makes the body even more tired than usual. A light lunch should be high in protein and carbohydrates and low in fat, with fresh fruit and vegetables.
It is tempting to drink a cup of coffee every time you feel tired, but caffeine intake should be limited. Drink no more than three cups of coffee a day. A strong coffee may give you a momentary energy boost, but too much caffeine can make you feel even more tired later when your body has used up its energy. Sugar intake should also be limited, as too much sugar has the same effect as caffeine.
Don't forget to get a good night's sleep despite your tight schedule. On average, 7 to 8 hours of good sleep are necessary to regenerate the body. Anyone who has difficulty falling asleep, wakes up frequently at night or is chronically tired should speak to a doctor.
