The word migraine comes from the French word for headache (migraine), but migraine is more than just an ordinary headache. Migraine is a very common disease, especially in women.

The headache usually starts in the morning and can last for several days. Migraine attacks are often accompanied by visual disturbances, sensitivity to light and sound and nausea.

The main cause of migraines is an inherited sensitivity of the cerebral vascular system. Acute migraine attacks can be triggered by individual factors, e.g. stress, alcohol and weather conditions.

Although migraines cannot yet be cured, treatment measures can prevent acute attacks.

Professional ear acupuncture noticeably reduces the number and severity of migraine attacks. In addition, the triggering factors should be consciously avoided.
For acute migraines, treatment with aromatic oils (peppermint oil, lavender oil, lemongrass oil and lemon balm oil) or an application of medicinal herbs can help.

Herbal tea for migraines during acute attacks
Mix together 20g each of willow leaves, willow bark, lovage, woodruff and lemon balm leaves. Pour half a litre of boiling water over 2 tablespoons of the herbal mixture per application and leave to infuse for 15 minutes. The herbal tea can be drunk once an hour until the symptoms subside.

If you have frequent migraine attacks or persistent ordinary headaches, you should definitely consult a doctor.
