Dance therapy

The acoustic stimuli of music have a direct effect on the vegetative nervous system. Music with the same rhythm as the heartbeat provokes particularly strong feelings.

Music is used successfully in psychotherapy, but also in autogenic training and hypnotherapy. Dance therapy is directly linked to music therapy, as dancing, music and rhythm are inseparable. For thousands of years, people have found new strength and mental balance through dancing and music.

Dancing is a form of self-realisation and expression. Gestures and movements reflect the inner state, especially in free, improvised dancing. The simultaneous use of drugs and dancing leads to trance-like states of consciousness, through which people lose all existing inhibitions and express their true feelings.

After the Second World War, dance therapy was used successfully for the first time with disabled children. This secured a firm place for music and dance therapy in the treatment of the mentally and psychosomatically ill. In rehabilitation, too, faster progress is often achieved through music.

Music and dancing deserve much more attention than they get when it comes to health maintenance and health care. Music and dancing release pent-up emotions and bring inner balance. Stress is reduced and the body remains more resilient.
