8 tips on how to brew black tea, green tea or fruit tea so that it tastes best.
First boil the water properly, not just heat it, then pour it over the tea. When the water boils during infusion, the flavour of the tea leaves is fully extracted. This also reduces the brewing time of the tea. The longer you leave the tea to infuse, the more bitter-tasting tannin is dissolved in the tea. It is best to boil the water in an electric kettle. Boiling water in the microwave takes longer and produces inferior tea.
Use loose tea instead of tea bags. Tea in tea bags is ground more finely and is therefore more bitter than loose tea. Loose tea also has more room to react with the water.
Quality tea logically produces a better infusion drink than inferior tea.
One teaspoon of loose tea per teacup.
Use fresh water for the tea. Stale water has less oxygen and affects the flavour of the tea.
Warm the teacup or teapot slightly beforehand so that the water retains its temperature for longer and the tea steeps better.
The tea should steep for 3 to 5 minutes. Less than 3 minutes will not release the full flavour, while steeping for too long will make the tea taste bitter.
Stir briefly once or twice while infusing.
