If you want to change your Rasta look at some point and have a new hairstyle, you need to get your dreadlocks out. Of course, you can have dreadlocks professionally removed in a hair salon, but this can be quite expensive. The easiest method is, of course, to simply cut the hair very short so that the hair grows back normally. However, there are also inexpensive ways to remove dreadlocks yourself and keep your long hair.
To remove dreadlocks, the wax that holds them together must be loosened without damaging the hair. As the process takes a long time, you should start early in the morning.
Firstly, sit in a bathtub and leave the dreadlocks to soak thoroughly for 15 minutes. Then apply a highly degreasing hair shampoo and wash the hair thoroughly by rubbing the shampoo well onto the individual strands.
After leaving the shampoo on for a short time, rinse the hair thoroughly and apply a generous amount of conditioner. Without rinsing out the conditioner, start combing the hair strands from bottom to top. Use a wide-toothed comb. If necessary, apply more conditioner to protect the hair and comb through with your fingers. Keep the hair moisturised during the process.
Once all the dreadlocks have been combed out, you can wash out the conditioner. Apply a hair conditioner to the hair and leave on for 10 minutes. Then rinse out and towel dry the hair.
A few days after combing out the dreadlocks, wash your hair again and treat it thoroughly with a nourishing conditioner. Until the hair has fully recovered, you should always treat it with moisturising products and style it gently.
