How to clean a dog's ears

Dog ears

Just like humans, dogs also need to have their ears cleaned from time to time. If you want to clean your dog's ears yourself, you should follow a few simple rules to avoid infections.

To wash the dog's ear, a solution specially designed for cleaning ears should be used so that no irritation occurs inside the ear.

Soak up the solution with a cotton pad and gently dab and rub the dog's ear.

Start with the inside of the ear first to avoid bringing in bacteria from the outside.

Shake the dog after rubbing the ear. The dog will instinctively shake itself to get the moisture out of the ear. This is important to prevent ear infections.

Soak up some solution with a cotton bud and clean the ear in each fold.

Under no circumstances should the cotton bud be inserted too deeply into the ear canal. Untrained hands or a sudden jerking of the dog can damage the ear canal.
