Ski holidays were once a winter sport for the wealthier people. Nowadays, however, there are many ski resorts that specialise in catering for families and offer package deals.
The only problem lies in the choice of holiday destination.
…
Most ski resorts have websites. When you start planning your holiday, visit some of these websites and find information about offers specifically for families. The most important criteria for choosing the right resort are, for example, the availability of a ski school for children if they need lessons. The holiday should be fun for every member of the family, so anyone who can't ski well or at all should be catered for.
Next, find out about the slopes and ski lifts available. A ski resort that only caters for beginners will be boring for experienced members of the family. Those who prefer snowboarding to skiing should also be catered for.
Now it's time to find the right accommodation. A hotel or guesthouse does not have to be right at the foot of the ski slopes, as this can be very expensive. If you are motorised, you can look for accommodation that is a little further out and therefore cheaper. Of course, it is also nice to have a restaurant in the hotel and/or several restaurant options in the immediate vicinity. After an exhausting day of skiing, you don't necessarily feel like eating out in the evening.
The individual wishes of each family member should be discussed and largely taken into account. Of course, some compromises will have to be made, but everything should be done by mutual agreement so that nobody goes on holiday in a bad mood.
Some winter sports activities that might be of interest include snow hiking, cross-country skiing, sledging, dog sledging, snowmobiling or horse riding.
Once the right thing has been found for every member of the family, nothing stands in the way of a relaxing and adventurous winter holiday.
