The famous Buddha hill with the large golden Buddha statue (Buddha Hill) is also sometimes called Pattaya Hill and is located just a few minutes by car from Walking Street. At the top of the hill is a huge, gold-covered Buddha, about 100 metres above the coast and Jomtien.
Only 40 years ago, Pattaya was just a small village with a few huts on the beach. The monks of Pattaya and the village of Jomtien, as well as financial support from some wealthy businessmen, initiated the construction of the Buddha. The construction took a year as it was built by hand. The Buddha statue was originally white, but was later painted gold so that it could be seen from afar.
Surrounding the large Buddha statue are numerous smaller Buddha figures, each of which represents a specific role in life. There are also the seven Buddhas, each representing a day of the week. Depending on which day of the week you were born on, you have a specific Buddha to protect you.

The Wednesday Buddha means that you are a generous person.
The Thursday Buddha supports mental peace for meditation.
The Friday Buddha brings contentment.
The Saturday Buddha protects against the elements.
The Sunday Buddha finds people in need and helps them.
