How to remove black outlines or highligts around icons or text in Mac OS X Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard:

 

 

If you see black outlines or highlights around selected text passages or icons in the Mac OS X operating system, you have probably inadvertently activated the "Read aloud" function.

To deactivate it, press Apple+F5 (Apple+F5). The apple key is located to the left of the space bar.
