The cost of living varies from city to city and country to country, depending on the economic and political situation in each location. For example, living in the USA and Europe is much more expensive than in most places in the world. This is why many people from regions with a lower cost of living move to more expensive areas, earn money there and take it back to their own country, where they can buy much more with it and improve their standard of living.

 

The two cities with the lowest cost of living are Islamabad in Pakistan and Managua in Nicaragua.

 

Islamabad (Pakistan)

Islamabad is a city of millions in the north of Pakistan. It is the capital and cultural centre of the country. Extreme cultural and social differences make life inexpensive for Europeans, but the country's customs and traditions take some getting used to.

 

Managua (Nicaragua)

Nicaragua has been through some bad times. Due to the tyranny under Somoza and the civil war in the 1980s, the capital of Nicaragua (Managua) is economically unstable and as a European you can get a lot for very little money there.
