Reports of UFO sightings date back to 1886. What is a UFO? An unidentified flying object or UFO is an object or light phenomenon in the sky whose appearance, flight path, general dynamics and luminous behaviour do not seem to provide a logical explanation. In the past, there have been repeated reports of strange object sightings in the sky.

 

1886 - UFO sighting in Mexico. Bonilla, the director of the Zacatecas Observatory, counted 283 objects flying past the solar disk. His photos are the oldest pictures of UFOs in the world and they still exist.

 

1897 - UFO incident in Texas. Alleged crash of a UFO in Aurora, Texas. The pilot was buried in the local cemetery and is said to have been extraterrestrial.

 

1926 - Nicholas Roerich is said to have seen a silver disc floating over the Himalayas in Nepal.

 

1942 - In Los Angeles, USA, the US military fires on unidentified flying objects and declares wartime status.

 

1947 - Roswell, New Mexico. Alleged UFO crash. The debris of the flying object as well as some bodies of extraterrestrials are said to have been recovered. Since the 70s, there have been various theories about the true background of the crash. While the US military reports that it was a weather balloon, proponents of the UFO theory claim that the military is trying to cover up.

 

1952 - In Flatwoods, Virginia 7 people report the landing of a flying saucer and a strange creature.

 

1965 - At 8.30pm, several calls were received at Adhara Observatory in San Miguel, Argentina, claiming to have sighted unusual happenings on the Moon. Photographs of the moon were taken from the observatory showing a formation of disc-shaped objects in front of the moon. A few minutes later, three strange glowing objects flew over La Plata.

 

1975 - Alien abduction in Texas. Travis Walton claims to have been abducted by aliens and held captive for five days. Six of Walton's colleagues claim to have seen a UFO.

 

1977 - Colares, Brazil. A stunning depiction of an island overrun by UFOs.

 

1990 - Belgium. Mass sightings of large, low-flying, black triangles detected by NATO radar. There is photographic evidence.

 

2010. China. 16 July 2010, after the sighting of a UFO, the airport in Hangzhou is temporarily closed. To date, there is no explanation for the sighting. A few hours earlier, local residents described the sighting of a large, luminous object in the sky.
