Soap bars dissolve when they are in the soap dish and moist. After washing your hands, you put the soap back on its dish, where a pool then forms under the soap. The next time you touch it, the soap is slippery and greasy.
All you need to do is place a small sponge on the soap dish, on which you place the wet soap, and the slippery soap film is absorbed. This allows the soap to dry out.
This prevents the soap from looking unsightly and getting a slippery film, and you can use the soap for longer.
