Glass carafes are more of an ornamental object these days and therefore easily accumulate dirt. The narrow neck of the bottle makes cleaning difficult. You can get the good crystal glass pieces nice and clean again with a homemade solution.

 

Put a mixture of rock salt and vinegar in the carafe and swirl it back and forth so that the liquid gets everywhere. The salt gently scrubs the surfaces while the vinegar removes stains and limescale. To remove wine residue, take a little warm water with rock salt and baking soda. Leave to soak overnight and rinse with clean water in the morning.

 

Drying glass carafes, vases and thermos flasks

 

Drying these narrow-necked containers can also be a challenge. Instead of waiting for hours to dry them, you can try the following trick.

After removing the water, wrap a piece of kitchen paper around the handle of a wooden spoon so that the kitchen towel protrudes a little at one end. Place the handle with the kitchen paper inside the container and leave for a few hours until the paper has absorbed the moisture or clean inside with the handle as far as you can reach.
