What could be nicer than sitting on the couch with a cold beer, especially with friends? Unfortunately, it's easy to spill a little beer and ruin a good leather sofa. How can you remove beer from a leather sofa so that no visible stains remain?
Beer stains on leather must be dealt with quickly to prevent the liquid from penetrating too deeply into the fabric and leaving an unsightly stain. Beer is a protein-based drink, so a solvent for protein-based stains is needed. If you don't have a special solvent for cleaning leather to hand, you can mix your own solution. Add lemon juice and Tartar sauce or mayonnaise in a 1:1 ratio to form a paste. Apply the paste to the stain with a clean, dry cloth and leave to work for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, apply a second coat of the paste.
Apply olive oil soap to a damp cloth and use it to remove the paste from the leather. Olive oil soap also helps to remove other food stains.
Dab the leather with a dry cloth and allow to air dry.
This solution can also be used on beer stains that have already dried out, although a pale stain will probably remain on the leather.
