A simple recipe for homemade waterproof glass glue. The glue is very effective for gluing glass to glass, metal to metal, wood, porcelain and labels to glass containers.
Ingredients:
approx. 60g unflavoured gelatine
2 tablespoons of cold water
3 tablespoons skimmed milk
A few drops of wintergreen oil, also Methyl salicylate or methyl salicylate available in pharmacies.
Preparation
Pour the water into a small bowl.
Sprinkle in the gelatine.
Leave to soak.
Bring the milk to the boil briefly and pour over the soaked gelatine.
Stir until smooth.
Add wintergreen oil as a preservative.
The adhesive should be used warm, spread with a brush on the surfaces to be glued. Pour into a screw-top jar for storage. The adhesive gels when it cools, so heat briefly in a bain-marie before the next application.
