It is not always necessary to call a specialist when the contents of the freezer are suddenly no longer properly frozen. The fact that the freezer no longer reaches its optimum temperature can have causes that you may be able to remedy yourself.

 

If ice has formed on the back wall, it acts like an insulating layer around the cooling elements and prevents optimal cooling of the entire interior. Ice forms in the freezer or freezer compartment when warm air enters from outside. Defrosting may take care of the problem if the ice has only formed due to constant opening or accidentally leaving the door open.

However, it may also be that the seal around the door is brittle or cracked. In this case, the seal, i.e. the rubber ring around the entire door, must be replaced. The seal can be obtained from the manufacturer of the appliance or from online shops.

 

If no ice has formed, check that the appliance is set correctly and that no knob or lever is stuck. Switch off the appliance and switch it on again, adjust and test whether the temperature is now reached.
