More and more garden owners want to have a more ecological vegetable or ornamental garden. The trend is moving towards organic gardens.

 

Tips for environmentally friendly gardening

 

Fertilise organically. Use less store-bought artificial fertiliser and more of your own compost. This way, your kitchen waste is put to good use and the soil stays healthy. You should also largely avoid pesticides and use organic alternatives.

 

Watering. It is a real waste to water the lawn and plants with water from the tap. Water from rain barrels is untreated and natural. You should also plant plants in the garden that need little watering, even in the drier season, such as thyme and coneflower.

 

Native plants. Planting native plants has many advantages. Firstly, they are already adapted to the climate and environmental conditions and therefore require less care, and secondly, they are less susceptible to diseases.

 

Kitchen garden. Convert part of your garden into a vegetable garden so that you have untreated and chemical-free vegetables. Of course, this should also only be fertilised with your own compost.

 

Solar energy. We already know of garden lamps that only use solar energy. You can also get water pumps and lawn mowers that run on solar energy for your eco-garden. They are quiet and do not emit toxic gases into the air.
