Hairy pets like dogs and cats constantly leave individual fur hairs on furniture or clothing. The fabrics used to make the clothing have different properties, so some seem to really attract the hair, while others almost never show any visible pet hair.

 

Imitation leather and PVC are particularly suitable for furniture because they are a hard-wearing material and only need to be wiped down occasionally with a damp cloth. Like leather, imitation leather and PVC tend to repel animal hair, but leather is destroyed more quickly by animal claws.

Suede, which attracts animal hair like a magnet, is not suitable at all.

 

Cotton and wool as well as acrylic wool are less suitable for pet owners. Small bumps in the fur hairs settle between the fibres and get hooked there.

 

Synthetic fabrics such as Lycra and nylon have a smooth structure. This means that animal hair finds less contact surface and slides off the fabrics.
