Toilet cleaners and lemonade have one thing in common: the active ingredient citric acid. So instead of using chemical and environmentally unfriendly cleaning products, you can clean your toilet with drinks containing lemon. The citric acid from citrus fruits has both an antibacterial and bleaching effect. In addition, it smells more pleasant than the chemical-heavy toilet cleaners.

 

The best thing to do is to pour the lemon drink into the toilet bowl, spread it with the brush and leave it to soak in for a few hours. Then brush again and rinse. Another advantage over chemical cleaners is that children and pets are not at risk. Small children often put their hands in the toilet bowl out of curiosity, while it is not uncommon to catch dogs and cats drinking from the toilet.

Anything that contains citric acid and is yellowish in colour can be used for cleaning, but do not use red-coloured drinks, as they can discolour the porcelain. Powdered drinks can also be used, which can be applied undiluted like a scouring agent.

 

By the way: Using drinks containing citric acid as an additive in the dishwasher prevents limescale deposits.
