If an open wound comes into contact with non-sterile objects, bacteria get into the blood and can cause an infection.
Hygiene is therefore very important. To protect an open wound from infection, it must be disinfected.
How to disinfect injuries:
1. allow the wound to bleed briefly, the blood washes out any bacteria that may have penetrated the wound.
2 Once the bleeding has been reduced, the edges of the wound can now be cleaned using gauze and a disinfectant. The disinfectant (e.g. iodine or alcohol) can be poured generously onto the wound and dabbed with the gauze. If possible, you should avoid rinsing wounds with water, as the water contains bacteria.
3. the cleaned and disinfected wound can now be protected with a plaster against the penetration of dirt and painful contact with objects.
