A stye is a thickening of the eyelid, accompanied by itching or pain, reddening of the eyelids, sensitivity to light, tearing of the eye and a foreign body sensation.
This is usually a bacterial infection caused by staphylococci. How do you treat a sty?
To get rid of the annoying and unsightly sty, it must never be squeezed or lanced. Otherwise the inflammation will spread to the surrounding tissue. If possible, avoid rubbing and feeling with your fingers.
In addition to treatment with antibiotics by a doctor, warm compresses with camomile tea and exposure to red light about three times a day for about 15 minutes are recommended.
