The sauna is an effective sweat bath that stimulates the metabolism and promotes perspiration. Regular sauna sessions strengthen the immune system, harden the body and make it more resistant to diseases.
Sweat excretes waste products and toxins from the body, which burden the organism.
A sauna session consists of two parts: Heat and cooling. The temperature in the sauna room is 60 to 90 degrees. Dry air alternates with humid air through infusions. After sweating in the sauna, the body is cooled down in the fresh air and with cold water.
A maximum of three consecutive sauna sessions are recommended, followed by a one-hour rest period.
With medical advice, the sauna can also be used to treat colds, rheumatism, gout and neuralgic diseases.
Sweating in the sauna causes the body to lose a lot of fluid, which has to be replaced afterwards. Contrary to popular belief, saunas are not effective in treating obesity, as the body only loses water and not fat.
The sequence of applications when visiting the sauna
Pre-cleaning
Clean your face and body with soap and water, dry off and take a warm foot bath.
1st sauna session
Lie or sit in a relaxed position for 8-12 minutes, sitting upright for the last 2 minutes. Then move around in the fresh air for 8-12 minutes. Take a cold shower with the hose, starting from the bottom upwards and dipping briefly into the plunge pool. Take a warm foot bath. Rest for a few minutes, take another cold shower and massage if necessary.
2nd sauna session
First heat up for 8-12 minutes, then cool down for 8-12 minutes in the same order as for the 1st sauna session.
After the 3rd sauna session, rest lying down for 30 to 60 minutes and drink up the lost fluids.
What you should consider before going to the sauna
Nothing should be eaten one hour beforehand so as not to burden the body with digestive activity.
You should go into the sauna calm and relaxed.
If possible, the bowel should be emptied before the sauna session.
You should drink very little beforehand.
Particularly strong sweating can be achieved by drinking 2 cups of lime blossom tea.
You should bring a bathrobe, bath towel, soap, skin cream and possibly essential oil for the steam infusion.
