Risks that doctors don't like to talk about

Doctor

Doctors are only human. Social conditioning therefore often leads them not to tell their patients the whole truth about their personal health risk directly to their face. These are typical health risks that the doctor may not tell the patient.

Overweight
People who are hopelessly overweight are used to being made aware of the associated health risks. However, it gets trickier with people who have just a little too much on their ribs. Being slightly overweight is socially acceptable, which makes it more difficult for doctors to tell patients that they should lose weight.

Supplements
Most supplements, i.e. vitamin and mineral preparations, are ineffective. Only real food can often help to prevent deficiency symptoms. It is best to seek advice on which nutrients you can get from which foods and draw up a balanced diet plan.

Sleep apnoea and snoring
It is often forgotten as a risk factor. People who do not sleep properly have an increased risk of heart disease. Snoring can be an important sign that a disorder is present.

Difficult pregnancy
Pre-eclampsia can be a latent risk factor because it indicates a problem with the blood vessels. Very few doctors ask a 50-year-old woman about the course of a pregnancy 20 years ago.

Smoking
Smokers must quit if they want to stay healthy. Doctors now rely on the fact that the health risk of smoking is well known and put less pressure on patients, even though it is one of the most important factors.

Tablets
Emotional stress is poison for the heart. Although medication is useful as a supportive measure against depression and similar conditions, the healing of the person is often neglected. It is important to investigate the cause of the problem and treat it therapeutically.

Teeth
The whole body reacts to inflammation in the mouth. People with chronic gingivitis are more likely to suffer from heart problems than others.

Questions and concerns
The doctor is generally more receptive to the patient's concerns and questions before starting the physical examination. After the examination, he has already formed a picture and worked out a treatment in his head.
