Around 20 antimicrobial peptides have been discovered in the human body to date.

Natural antibiotics are found on the skin, in the mucous membranes of the mouth, respiratory tract and intestines, in the jawbone, facial cartilage and joints. The skin is in constant contact with germs from the environment and uses antibiotics to protect itself from infections.

Dental procedures in the mouth and jawbone are only possible thanks to the body's antibacterial defence. Our joints also largely protect themselves against infection after accidents and operations.

The protein psoriasin is found everywhere on the skin and thus prevents the attack of pathogenic germs. Psoriasin is particularly concentrated on the hands, feet, armpits, head and genital area.
