Green tea contains many vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that protect the body against all kinds of ailments. Among other things, green tea contains vitamins C and E, lutein and zeaxanthin, which protect the eye from eye diseases such as glaucoma.

These substances are absorbed by the lens of the eye and the retina and protect the structure of the eye against diseases. The protection lasts for around 20 hours.

But green tea not only protects the eyes, it can do even more: the epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) contained in green tea prevents the growth of malignant cancer cells. The more green tea you drink, the lower your risk of developing stomach, prostate, pancreatic, oesophageal and colorectal cancer.

The catechins in green tea also help against blood clotting, athereosclerosis, heart disease, diabetes, stroke and dementia.

In contrast to black tea, green tea is unfermented, which means it contains more important nutrients and antioxidants and offers more protection against diseases when drunk regularly.
