If the doctor cannot find a physical cause for constant tiredness and you get enough sleep at night, but still suffer from chronic symptoms of tiredness, the cause may be in your own home.

The following symptoms may indicate that there are toxic materials in the house that make the body tired and sick.

Despite getting enough sleep at night, you feel extremely tired during the day.
Simple household tasks take so much energy that you need to rest afterwards.
You look forward to the day's activities with extreme discomfort because you feel completely exhausted afterwards.
You feel drained not only physically, but also emotionally; you can no longer take pleasure in anything.
The only endeavour is to stay at home, although the home may be the cause.

When such symptoms of tiredness occur, it is time to look for the triggers in the home. These are typical possible causes of tiredness that can be found in your own household. The question you need to ask yourself is: when did the symptoms start and what materials came into the house?

A recently purchased new carpet
Freshly painted walls
New laminate, PVC or parquet flooring
Recently purchased household appliances such as a cooker, microwave or dishwasher
A new car that has the typical new car smell
Has an exterminator been in the house recently
A gas pipe in the flat
Cracks in the cellar floor, roof or windows
Mould in the house
A bedroom directly above a car garage
Leaking exhaust pipes in a car

Chronic fatigue can be caused by the outgassing of newly processed materials. Chemicals may have been used in the manufacture of carpets, flooring and appliances, the gases from which can be released into the air we breathe for several weeks. Certain paints can also emit toxic substances.

The odour in new cars comes from the use of chemicals in the interior materials.

When the body is flooded with toxic gases, it has to start a detoxification process, which is very energy consuming and draining. During the fight against the chemicals, you continue to inhale toxins so that the body no longer has any energy. A point is reached at which the organism can no longer detoxify itself. The consequences are tiredness, fatigue and lack of energy.

A minor leak in a gas pipe or gas connection is also possible. Small amounts of gas are not necessarily smelled, but nevertheless poison the respiratory tract in the long term.

Small cracks can let moisture into the home, which in turn can cause mould. Mould is often hidden behind furniture on the wall and is therefore not noticed. The first step is to find out what is causing the mould, then remove the mould and rectify the cause.

If there is a garage under the bedroom or the car has faulty exhaust fumes, toxic carbon monoxide can leak through the floor. Carbon monoxide is extremely poisonous because it binds directly to the oxygen in the blood. The result is extreme tiredness, which becomes more and more severe as the oxygen cells in the body are reduced.
