Sixty-six is a card game for two players and is played with 24 cards (ace, king, queen, jack, 10 and 9). The aim of the game is to be the first to win enough tricks so that the total of the card values reaches at least 66.

Each player is dealt 6 cards, one card is placed face up on the table. This card indicates the trump colour.

Trump cards take non-trump cards regardless of their value. For all other cards, the card with the higher value wins. If a player cannot take a trick or trump, he discards any card. The trick won is collected by the respective player and the value totalled; the cards played are then placed face down on the table in front of them. Once counted, tricks may not be taken up again for recounting.

 

After a player has collected his trick, he takes a new card from the deck and the other player is the second to draw a new card. The player who took the last trick is the first to play again.

 

The player who has reached a total of at least 66 can declare the game over. If his opponent has 33 points or more, he receives one point. If the opponent has fewer than 33 points, the winner receives two points. If the opponent has no tricks, three points are awarded. The winner is the player who scores 7 points.

 

If a player ends the game because he believes he has more than or exactly 66 points and this proves to be incorrect, the opponent receives two points.
