100g beeswax

9 tablespoons turpentine oil

100g lard

2 tablespoons mineral oil

1 tablespoon of soot paste

3 tablespoons of china clay

Cardboard box

Wax paper or tracing paper

 

Mix beeswax, turpentine oil, lard and mineral oil together.

Heat in a hot water bath until everything is well mixed. Stir while doing so.

Stir in the soot paste and china clay.

Coat the cardboard completely with the resulting paste and leave to cool.

Place wax paper over the surface.

Use a sharp, non-tearing object (stick, fingernail) to colour or write on the wax paper.

The writing is erased when the wax paper is removed.
