Young children still have to develop their personal taste in music. It is not until their teenage years that certain music genres are chosen to trigger certain emotions.
Complicated and chaotic music such as rock music, heavy metal and rap is less suitable for a baby or toddler, as their brain structure cannot yet properly categorise the distorted sound sequences. When it comes to music, children should think simply: any music that is uncomplicated and cheerful has a positive and stimulating effect on children. The parents' own personal taste can certainly be taken as a guideline here.
Whether classical music, pop or dance music, you should observe your child's reaction to it. Any music with a clearly recognisable melody is suitable for children, so children can react positively to fast techno sounds if they like the melody.
If you are not sure which music provokes the most positive reactions in your child, you should play a range of completely different types of music to the child and consider what the child seems to like.
Faster music is generally better during the day, while slower music is better played before going to bed.
