Crystallised honey is not only unattractive, it also no longer tastes good. The honey looks unappetising to most people and tastes like sugar. Honey crystallises if there is a high moisture content in the air, if it is exposed to excessive heat or if small dust particles have got into it.
However, there are methods to prevent the honey from crystallising by keeping it well sealed in a cool place or even freezing it. To freeze the honey, place it in an ice cube tray and cover it well with cling film to prevent dust particles from getting into the honey. The whole ice cube tray can also be wrapped in aluminium foil or placed in a freezer bag to preserve the flavour.
The ice cube tray is now placed in the freezer compartment. The honey can be taken out of the freezer in cubes as required.
Honey does not freeze in the freezer, but only becomes very viscous, which prevents it from crystallising. When taking it out, you can simply remove a cube of honey and use it up as quickly as possible. Honey thaws quickly and does not lose its flavour when frozen. It therefore remains aromatically fresh, aesthetically pleasing and appetising for a long time.
