According to new regulations, food manufacturers must provide certain information about the composition of their product on the back of the packaging.

 

The content of fat, saturated fatty acids, carbohydrates, sugar, protein, salt and calories per 100g or 100ml must be stated. In order for the consumer to be able to read them, the ingredients must be printed in letters at least 1.2 mm in size.

If a product contains allergenic substances, these must be visibly labelled on both packaged and loose foods.

Foods that contain imitations must be labelled with the substances used as substitutes, close to the product name. In frozen products, for example, so-called analogue cheese is often used, which consists partly of other animal or vegetable fats. Glued meat, i.e. ham glued together from meat scraps with coagulated protein, must also be labelled as "meat assembled from pieces of meat".

All meat products from cattle, pigs, sheep, goats and poultry must be labelled with the origin of the meat.

Frozen meat products must have the freezing date on the packaging.

Drinks containing caffeine must carry a warning for pregnant women and children on the packaging.
