Ready-made meals and fast food are of course very convenient for in-between and on the go. However, many of these foods contain ingredients that do more harm than good to the body. Here are the 5 foods you should avoid:

Lemonades and other soft drinks

Soft drink refers to soft drinks with added sugar or sweeteners, including nectars, sports drinks and energy drinks. Frequent drinking of sweetened drinks contributes to obesity and damages the metabolism and liver.

Equally refreshing in summer is cold mineral water with a dash of fruit juice, preferably lemon.

Light drinks

Diet sodas usually contain aspartame, saccharin or sucralose. With long-term daily consumption, these sweeteners increase the risk of stroke or heart attack. In addition, the reduced calorie count often deceives consumers and tempts them to consume more.

White bread

When whole grains are processed into white flour, about 80% of the nutrients from the grain are lost. Numerous experiments and observations have found that animals and humans who eat a diet high in white flour products gain weight faster than those who eat more whole grain products. In addition, white bread makes you feel full less quickly, so you tend to eat more of it.

Artificial trans fats

Artificial trans fats are formed when vegetable oil is hardened under high temperatures and pressure. These trans fats are found in margarine, pastries and cakes. The consumption of trans fats increases the "bad" cholesterol in the blood and lowers the "good" cholesterol at the same time. The content of trans fats is indicated in many foods, so one should make sure that as few trans fats as possible are contained.

Industrially processed meat

Regular consumption of industrially processed meat has been shown to increase the risk of certain cancers. Processing uses sodium nitrite and sodium nitrate for preservation, which may be converted in the body into carcinogenic compounds such as nitrosamine. Industrially processed meat includes sausages, bacon and moulded meat.
