Stress from work and household chores makes people nervous in the long run and robs the body of its drive. Professional wellness programmes are very beneficial to health against stress, but unfortunately also quite expensive. Everyone should treat themselves to an inexpensive wellness day at home from time to time, with maximum comfort and relaxation and at a fraction of the cost.
For relaxation, play soothing music and provide warm and dim lighting in the home. Distractions from the television and computer should be completely avoided. Don't forget to temporarily turn off the doorbell and switch the telephone to voice mail.
Aromatic scented candles with essential oils create a relaxing ambience. Orange oil, rose oil, lavender or sandalwood oil are good choices.
Fill the bathtub with pleasantly warm water and add your favourite fragrance to the bath. If you don't have a bathtub, you can make do with a foot tub in which you soak your feet in warm water for a good twenty minutes. Sit back, relax, close your eyes and feel the warmth permeate your body.
After the bath or footbath, scrape the feet with a pumice stone to remove calluses and horny skin. Paint the toenails as desired.
The hands may get an extra bath. Fill a bowl with warm water and add nourishing oils or milk. Soak the hands for ten minutes, then dry them and paint the fingernails as desired.
Wash the face thoroughly with a wash cloth and then apply a nourishing face mask depending on the skin type. Leave the face mask to work according to the instructions and rinse off, then apply cream and make-up to the face as usual. While the face mask is working, place cucumber slices on your eyes and lie down to relax.
If possible, plan the wellness day with a friend, because it's even more fun with the two of you. What you should avoid is putting everything together, i.e. applying the face mask while lying in the bathtub. The point of a wellness day is to take plenty of time for yourself and to care for your body extensively. If you try to compress the wellness programme, an important part of the relaxation exercise is lost.
