Curvy girls have an hourglass shape with a large bust, defined waist and feminine hips. The way you dress determines whether you show off your curves or try to conceal them. Which trousers show off your figure best?
Jeans or other trousers that are cut wider below the waistline visually reduce the hips. Flared trousers or boot-cuts bring visual balance to the legs because they add volume below the knee. Boot-cut and straight cuts look good on every figure. However, if you tend to be short and chubby, you should avoid flared trousers.
Skinny jeans emphasise the hips, darker colours are usually more advantageous as they are slimming. Cloth trousers with a wide cut hip are more suitable for formal outfits.
Cropped jeans are only suitable for tall girls, because they visually cut into the leg line and reduce the body size.
Fabrics with stretch, i.e. stretchy fabrics like spandex, fit close to the body, drawing the eye to every little curve of the body. Skin-tight fabrics can look very sexy for leisure and weekend wear. For example, if you want to downplay your curves at work, choose stiffer fabrics with less natural drape like cotton, denim or wool.
Dark colours are slimming, but that doesn't mean you can only wear black clothes. There are rich browns, dark greens, burgundies, navy blues and dark greys that you can use to spice up your wardrobe and still look good. If you want to wear lighter colours, don't choose tight-fitting clothes, but classic cuts.
A well coordinated top and trousers or skirt will give you the slimmest look. The top should show off your waist to avoid a square effect. Wide tops should be cinched in the middle with a belt.
A V-neck top draws the eye vertically and balances the horizontal curves. You can wear shoulder pads to balance the wide hips.
Heels elongate the legs and harmoniously counteract curvy hips.
