Everyone wants to look good, and an important part of looking good is wearing clothes in the right colour for your type. The best way to find the right colour for you is to divide it into winter, summer, spring and autumn types. Everyone on us fits into at least one of these categories. The type is determined by skin, eye and hair colour.
How do you determine the colour types and find the right colour for your type?
Winter type
The winter type has black, chestnut or white hair, brown, olive, pale or pink skin and brown or black, hazel, grey or blue eyes. Winter colours are clear colours such as black and white or ruby red.
Spring type
The spring type has dark brown, chestnut, reddish-blonde, golden-blonde or dark-blonde hair, golden, pink, peach or ivory-coloured skin and blue, green, golden-brown or amber-coloured eyes. Spring colours are fresh and bright colours such as sunny yellow or apple green. The spring type should avoid dark colours.
Summer type
The summer type has dark brown or mouse brown hair, grey or blue eyes and pink or ivory skin. Summer colours are soft pastel shades or cool, muted colours such as lavender.
Autumn type
The autumn type has dark brown, red or copper-coloured hair, dark brown, olive, golden brown or beige skin and golden brown, amber, hazel or green eyes. The autumn type wears true and inviting colours such as earth tones.
How to determine your type
Take an item of clothing that fits one of the four categories and hold it up to your face. While standing in front of the mirror, close your eyes and open them again.
What was the first thing that caught your eye, your face or the colour of the garment? If it was your face, you've found your type. If it was the garment, keep trying different colours until you have determined your type.
