Black tea or coffee can be used to achieve interesting hair colours. As coffee and black tea are one hundred per cent natural, they do not damage the hair and can be used as often as required for colouring.
Brew some tea or coffee (use 4 tea bags or 3 teaspoons of coffee powder per half litre of water), allow to cool to around 30 degrees and rinse damp hair thoroughly for 15 minutes after washing. The result will be better if the hair is combed well before washing. Knead the hair well to distribute the brown liquid evenly. Leave on for a further 15 minutes and rinse briefly with clear water. Do not wrap a towel around damp hair while the tea or coffee is working. The towel absorbs the liquid and draws it out of the hair. This reduces the colouring and stains the towel.
In contrast to artificial hair dyes, colouring with natural substances is more subtle. To achieve the desired colour, it may be necessary to repeat the process several times.
Colour results when dyeing with coffee or tea
When used correctly, blonde hair takes on a natural light brown to brown colour. The coffee or tea rinse intensifies the natural colour of brown hair and gives it a particularly beautiful shine. Unevenly bleached hair strands are evened out by colouring.
