It's annoying when you're travelling and forget your shaving foam. But that's not so bad as long as you at least have shampoo with you. Shampoo has softening properties that make it a good alternative to shaving.

Soap is not so suitable as a shaving foam substitute as it dries out the skin too much and does not soften the beard hair.
