Cellulite can be detected by rubbing a fold of skin between the thumb and index finger. Normal skin appears smooth. If the skin is not smooth, you may have cellulite in one of the following phases:
Phase 1The skin shows no visible signs, but bruises and small wounds heal more slowly in this area of skin.
Phase 2: On closer inspection, you will notice changes in the colour of the skin and brittle veins. Bruises form quickly and the skin feels thicker. Stripes appear when pinched.
Phase 3Even without pinching you can recognise the orange peel effect.
Phase 4The skin has a dimpled appearance and feels cold to the touch. Brittle veins are clearly visible and bruises form spontaneously.
Phase 5The skin has cold and hot spots.
Phase 6Honeycomb-shaped lumps of fat distort the surface of the skin.
