As much as we love our house cats, there are places in the home and outside where cats are simply not allowed to go. Cats generally don't listen, so they have to be kept away by other means, but in a natural way. Here are a few natural cat repellents that are completely safe for cats.

 

 

Cat repellent for outdoors

 

Mustard powder, coffee powder, dried rosemary and cayenne pepper are among the odours that cats do not like. In the places in the garden where you don't want the cat to go, you can generously sprinkle the above-mentioned powders. If one product does not work, try another or a mixture of several odours together.

 

Place fresh herbs where you don't want your cat to go. Cats don't like the smell of lavender, rosemary, citronella and garlic. The advantage of fresh herbs is that you don't have to keep spraying or sprinkling them. 

 

Cat repellent in the house

 

 Of course, we don't want a strong pepper or mustard odour in the house, so we need aromas that are not unpleasant for us, but which repel a cat. Essential oils of cinnamon, citronella, lemon, lemongrass, lavender, orange or rosemary are good for this. Put a few drops of essential oil on a cotton wool ball and place the cotton wool ball where the cat is bothered, i.e. in the wardrobe, in the kitchen or near the potted plants. Alternatively, you can also rub the oil onto shelves with a damp cloth.

 

Another option is to boil dried herbs such as rosemary or lavender and pour the brew into a spray bottle. Do not use a spray bottle that has previously contained chemicals. You can now spray the spray on floors, plants or surfaces where you don't want the cat. It is best to re-spray once a week.
