A clean goldfish aquarium keeps the goldfish healthy, because the goldfish needs a clean environment to avoid dying. But cleaning the aquarium is not only good for the fish; a clean goldfish tank looks much prettier and is more fun.

 

To clean the goldfish aquarium, you will need a long-handled dish brush, new filters, a piece of water hose, a bucket, enough stale water at room temperature and a water conditioner from the fish shop. Keep the fish in the water to spare them the trauma of moving twice.

 

Remove decorative large stones and artificial plants from the tank and brush them off separately with warm water, but not too thoroughly, as they contain bacteria that are important for the health of the fish. The small stones on the bottom remain in the fish tank.

Remove dirty filters from the filter system and insert new filters.

Use the brush to remove algae from all four sides of the aquarium, making sure to get into the corners. Of course, take good care of the fish.

4. stir up the slag on the floor with the brush.

Fill the water hose with water and hold both ends closed with your thumb. Place one end in the aquarium tank directly above the bottom and the other over a bucket as a drain. The drain must be deeper to create a suction effect. Run the water hose along the bottom like a hoover and suck in the swirled up slag. Remove about two thirds of all the water in this way, then remove the hose.

6. place the decorative objects back in the tank and fill the aquarium to the correct water level. As there is still a third of the old water in the tank mixed with the new water, it is easier for the fish to get used to the fresh water.

 

Note: Do not remove more than two thirds of the water from the tank to leave enough space for the fish. If the water level becomes too low, they may be harmed or even die. Never clean an aquarium with soaps or other chemical cleaners. When sucking up the sludge with the hose, be careful not to suck in smaller fish that could then get stuck in the hose.
